Susan Short MA, SGFA
Susan Short studied Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art gaining an MA in 2000. She has had work in many group exhibitions including the Royal Academy in 2002, 2004 and 2011. An elected member of Southbank Printmakers, she shows regularly at their Gallery in Gabriel’s Wharf, SE1, and also at For Arts Sake Gallery in Ealing.
In 2014 she became an Associate Member of the Society of Graphic Fine Artists, had work in several group exhibitions, and had two pieces selected for the Cork Street Open.
Statement
Printmaking enables me to bring together different elements and expressions in response to my surroundings. As an artist interested in my environment, and working in London I realized how controlled we are in where we move and what we see in the city. My work explores my surroundings of buildings and landscape, and also themes of escape and freedom, symbolized with ladders or birds.
Drawings, notes and photographs are made on site and then extensively developed in the studio.
